Go on dreamhorse.com and search for some around you. I've found some pretty damn good animals on there.
From the way you worded your question, I would guess that you have no business being on a horse that is jumping and that you have little real experience with horses. There is nothing wrong with ';window'; shopping for a horse, but I just don't believe you are ready to buy one.
Here is not the place to look.

Horses for sale! Help me narrow my list!?

I have been looking for a horse to buy. I am an ';intermediate'; rider. I want to pursue a career in the Hunter jumper ring. I have only jumped cross rails, but I will be working with an instructor and I would like to progress to 3' with the horse I am buying now. Here are some I am looking at. I want to narrow it down to 8-10 that I will go try out. I already have 5 I am going to try for sure (that aren't listed), so I need to eliminate 4 or 5 from this list. So, here they are. And don't pick one just because its ';pretty';.

Thanks!!Horses for sale! Help me narrow my list!?
One ,two and 7, The rest seem too small to consider and some really seem reluctant to jump even though they are taking the jump.

7 I particularly like though it may be different in person. The owner tells you she has to sell the mare and the mare seems to be really solid from her comments and pictures . The Grey I would not touch for a jumper . He has a blue albino eye which in my experience which is considerable out side the Jump ring but very limited in the jump ring would be partially

blind in that eye or at least affected

Take a Trainer and Teacher along with a vet to check the horses out BEfore purchasint!Horses for sale! Help me narrow my list!?
number 10 definitely knows the most, and could be good for your plans. i really like his jumping form, and i also like his happy demeanor and how he is responding to the cues. 4k is certainly reasonable for her.

that oldenburg was nice, but i am partial to them, and always have been.
wow, I was going to go see 2, 7, and 10.

they ended up being too far away though (except 10, which i waas still thinking of going to see).

    I think 2, 7, 9, and 10 are great ponies
    I LIKE NUMBERS 4 6 AND 10
i noticed all of these horses are in diffrent state try and find one in yours
    1. No, He is green for showing, you want something a bit more been there done that is you have only done cross rails so far. Do you have any show experience?

    2. No once again not shown.

    3. No not shown.

    4. Yes,

    5. Yes,

    6. I do not like her jump. It looks very flat, it could just be that on jump. Ask for more pictures. If they all look like that no.

    7. No he is an Eventer/WP horse not a H/J horse

    8. No very green when it comes to showing.

    9. No, you want to learn how to jump higher, you want a slower horse that will not get strong. It is no fun trying to jumper higher and improve your jumping while your trying to keep your horse steady.

    10. Yes

The main reason I said no to the green horses is because you say you have only done cross-rails so I took it you have not show or not shown a lot. Horses can act very different at show especially when they are green. Green horse + green rider (when it comes to showing)= a lot a nerves and a lot of time falls and accidents in the ring.
I would take a reliable and well know Trainer who is experience in the Hunter area. It would be very hard to tell by the photos of all these horses.

You will want a Horse that is really going to do the job you want. I would also advice to bring a Veterinarian along also, when you pick the final Horse.

    I wish you the best.

The quarter Horse Mare- Bar girl I would not pick.

I would go with a Thoroughbred sex gelding. Mares get to Mari-sh

About 16 hands or higher to do the 3 feet jumps- That is high

About 4 years on up, more experience the Horse. The better.

Good bone, and a nice wide muscular chest.

Good hoofs. Look for any bruising or navacular disease's or any thrush.

and laminitis. I use to work with Thoroughbred's, and they make the best jumpers!

Have fun with your new Horse, and with a lot of love and attention He/She will be a Champion!

    Please keep us posted.
    I really like #'s

1 - I think this one collects nicely in that one picture. His form over jumps isn't horrible, it's okay. But there's a challenge for you. I always like challenges?!

2 - Now I really like this one! He jumps 2'9';, and probably has room to go higher. You wanted 3 feet and that's what he can do. I know you said not to say ';pretty'; but he's GORGEOUS! (sorry) ... Form looks good!

4 - This one sounds good as well. Form looks good, and can carry somebody really tall!

9 - I really like this one. The fact that he is a rescue horse, also makes my heart skip a beat. He sounds very good, and he jumps (obviously, that's what you want!)

10 - He can jump 4 1/2 feet. Holy poop! There's a horse for you! You could even jump higher then 3' if you wanted to. This horse has really nice conformation and everything!

Some others that look that they might do okay:

    5

    6

I think #2 and #10 would suit you well. Hope this helped!
My favourite is number ten he is cute and has experience but could also teach you a lot. I wouldn't pick numbers 1,5,6,7 or 8 they are a bad height if you wanted to move on to do some showing. They aren't ponies so they cant show pony and unless they have a big stride they might struggle in other classes. They would be fine for local schooling shows but when you get to any higher levels you would hae to move on to a different horse.

I have a horse for sale, and we've been contacted by a pony treking center?

They want him, but I dont know if its kind enough to a horse that needs a quieter life?

xxxxxI have a horse for sale, and we've been contacted by a pony treking center?
Well at a trekking center your horse certainly will not have a quieter life. He will be working.. alot.I have a horse for sale, and we've been contacted by a pony treking center?
If this is the type of horse who is kind of a one person horse and likes their spoiling and their routine, I would definitely hold off.

This is one career for a horse that only works if they absolutely fit the mold. (much like school horses).... they put up with a lot of stuff, don't usually get much personalized care, and a lot of the camps and schools I've known pretty much just dump the horses at auction if they don't fit into the lifestyle....
I would not send him to a trekking center. He won't have a quiet life... and he will be working.

If this is a horse you really care about, I think it's worth it if you wait a little longer until something better comes around.

If you place adds about him, make sure it says, ';Calm and quiet home wanted';, or something similar.
i agree, this is not a good home for your horse, especially if he needs a ';quieter'; life! i once sold a pony to a riding school and i still regret it, to this day, i still think about it and feel terrible that my lovely old pony had to deal with all that. luckily i know he was sold to one of the students after a couple of years, but still, he worked hard and he didnt deserve to be stuck in a stable like that.

ultimately it's your choice, but if you can hold out until you find a more suitable home, i would keep trying!

    good luck!

  • Anyone know a good horse for sale?

I have been asking my parents for a horse for quite some time now, and my father has finally consented to me owning a horse. I do Trail Endurance, Jumping, and Dressage and am looking for a jumper prospect that is sound on the trails. Our price range is from $0 to $2000, we would be willing to lease though as well. I live in Colorado, so the horse would have to come live at my stable however. So if you have any tips or horses you know of please reply. Thanks!Anyone know a good horse for sale?
Know what I would do...look into adopting a rescue horse. Those places take them in , get them healthy, re train them and find homes for them...cheap. I saw some horses on various rescue sites that looked wonderful!! Then you would know a full honest history on the horse and have the pride of helping a horse in need. The few places I talked to before wanted to match up with a good home so you'll know that the horse will fit your needs. Google search horse rescue and your state. Perhaps you can find one in your area. Good luckAnyone know a good horse for sale?
If you are in Christchurch NZ talk to Millisa Eden. she has a wee standardbred gelding called George who i considered buying up until my parents said no. he will be a great begginer horse and he is only 14.3hh and has lots of experience with forest treks and showing. he is $1000 i think. he is a great horse and you really should have a look! (he suits all your areas of riding)

    In ontario

    any sites ?

for some reason, my mom LOVES looking at horses for sale. she usually is on craig's list. ;-)Horses for sale , sites ?
    Check out Liverystable.net http://www.liverystable.net.

You can do a search for horses in a certain location, price range, age range, discipline type, etc.

Good luck looking for horses for sale. Liverystable.net is the best horse website I know of! You should also join the horse forum for lots more horse discussion.
For Ontario the best sites I find for cheap horses are equistation.com, kijiji.ca, and equinenow.com.

    Then there's also horsetopia.com, equine.com, warmbloods-for-sale.com, horseville.com, horseclicks.com, myhorses.ca, craigslist.com (however I find there isn't many horses on that), dreamhorse.com.

    Good luck!

Also I know there's a few OTTB rescues in Southern Ontario near all the race tracks and if you contact some raceways like Ottawa Carleton or something they will probably know a lot of people trying to get rid of race horses.

Just be careful when buying an OTTB because they can have injuries so try getting X rays done before you buy the horse and also have a full vet check.
OK, so the general, and good, sale sites are:

    Horses for sale in Thailand?

I'm moving to thailand in the summer,

and I need to know where you can buy horses, Are there horse markets or do you just buy the horses from their owners/riding school.?Horses for sale in Thailand?
There are horses sell everywhere in Chaingmai as well as Nakorn Ratchasrima and even Bangkok too. There're two horse racing tracks in Bangkok. I think if you contact them they can give you list of name of the stable that sell horses. Some of the racing ones could be quite expensive.Horses for sale in Thailand?
The place I have see the most horses and horses for sale is in Chiang Mai. The Thai Calvary is based in Chiang Mai and has over 1,000 wild horses roaming free on the base there. I am not familiar with a horse market, but I was able to find a person that sold horses through my son's riding school in Chiang Mai. Horses are extremely cheap here compared with in the US. You can buy a horse and have the horse fed and kept for almost nothing here in Thailand.

    Horses for sale? or free?

my mom and stepdad are moving to texas in june and i wont be able to get a horse til then but im looking now.. i was hoping someone on here would know where i could get cheap horses or free or $500-$3000.. im looking for a horse already in texas..i would have to work something out so it could stay with the owner until june and then i could get it but i really want a horse.. its one of my dreams!! i would be so happy.. lolHorses for sale? or free?
Try the rescue facilities. Most of the rescues are over filled at the moment in Texas. Bluebonnet rescue has more horses than they can deal with. They are always asking for help. Try the webpage: www.bluebonnetequine.org. They have a list as well as the price of the adoption. There are many other equine/horse rescues in Texas, but I can't think of their website addresses at this time.Horses for sale? or free?
We bought a horse in November for $500 in Colorado. Check out www.equine.com or www.acmehorses.com.

You would be able to get a pretty decent horse if you are willing to spend $3000, and texas has a lot of horses.
OK, have you ever taken riding lessons before? When you move to Texas, will it be on a ranch or farm large enough to have the horse and let the horse move around (ie: indoor stabling with paddock turnouts or field, etc)? I am assuming that you are planning on keeping the horse at home, so do you realize the work that is involved? That the horse must be looked after 365 days per year, it is a huge responsibility. I know that so many have posted to go to a shelter, however you may be getting a horse with many problems (both physical and mental). Physical problems with horses can be extremely costly and ongoing therapy time consuming. Mental problems are always tough because it can be an explosive dangerous situation, especially for a novice or green rider. I have dealt with numerous mentally ';damaged'; horses throughout my career and they are always a huge challenge, which I recommend anyone who is not extremely experienced not to attempt as you can make that mental ';damage'; even more. By saying mentally damaged, I am meaning that they have lots and lots of baggage that comes with them and lots of fears and evasive behaviors. They are treated differently than other horses.

Good luck and I hope that you find a horse that is suited to your riding ability and talent. And always remember that we want to treat horses like we would want to be treated, with kindness and compassion. That does not mean that they run the show or boss you around, just that the ground rules are always fair and consistent. It is a shame when you see people around horses that one day they allow the horse to do one habit and then the next day crucify them for that same behavior. The poor horse can not possibly know what they are getting into trouble for, because it was behavior that was previously ignored. I could go on and on and on, but be safe and have fun. The time spent around and with horses are the best, horses are the most noble creatures on the planet, and we can learn a lot from them. They have beauty without vanity and they love without prejudice.
I'm glad it is your dream to have a horse. If you wait until you are 30 or 40 years old you may be mature enough to deserve one.

Lots of girls buy cheap horses and even expensive horses then they loose interest when they discover boys. Or go away to college. Or get tired of the endless chores involved in taking care of a horse. Then the parents get rid of the horse. The usual ways are to send it to a sale or to put an ad in the paper. The end result is usually that somewhere down the line that horse you love so much now is going to end up on someone dinner table in Europe and if you live in Texas it is so much easier for that to happen because the only 2 HORSE SLAUGHTER HOUSES in the US are in Texas and are owned by a Belgium firm.

If you really love horses, learn all you can and volunteer at some horse facility.

Don't get a horse until you are ready and can afford to commit to what it takes.
horse rescues are probably your best bet. but remember with a lot of rescues they may need extra care due to a less-than-perfect past, either medically, or mentally. and may need lots of extra training. if you can provide this, then a rescue centre is going to welcome you with open arms!

i'd be wary of someone approaching you selling your ';dream'; horse ';cheap';.

as with any horse, get a trusted very experienced friend, vet or trainer to look over the animal BEFORE you buy! you don't want to buy a horse that ends up being very sick needing expensive medical things, or a horse with problems that can only be corrected by a highly experienced rider or trainer, or even a horse with dangerous tendencies. (i once knew a pony that had some real problems, to the point of rearing up and squashing riders against walls, and even running off and attempting to jump out of the school it was in, my dad nearly broke his thumb trying to catch it before it jumped one time...scary!)

definately look a gift horse in the mouth!
You could try to look on any of the equine websites they usually have horses for sale at reasonable prices in your price range!!
Please keep in mind that only experienced horse persons should consider adopting horses with potential problems. A lot of rescue horses are going to need special attention to diet and potentially lots of healthcare. There is also a good chance said horse will not be able to be ridden at all or until he/she has recovered fully.

If you are new to horses and want a horse to ride I would suggest investing in a good horse. Look online, ask the stables, ask at the feed store. My favorite website is equine.com. If you're not into a particular discipline look for a ';family/beginner friendly'; trail horse.

Remember that lots of free or ';cheap'; horses are often green broke and are not at all for those with little or no experience. I've been looking for a show horse for almost a year and have yet to find even a decent trail horse for ';cheap';.

The money you invest up front is often far less than what you'd have to invest in a cheap or free horse. Whatever you decide to do be sure to get a vet to check over the horse before you purchase.

    Good luck!
As suggested - try a rescue. Or you can try dreamhorse.com. They have ads for horses there. Lots of ads and you can search for different locations, breeds, etc.
www.petfinder.com These are mostly homeless animals. They have large pricy farm animals for $100 or less at times (Ones that cost as much as a used car from a breeder.) I'd check there.
dreamhorse.com is a great website just to browse for horses in the area/in your price range. You CAN get horses for free, but the problem is, you are going to have to be willing to REALLY work hard on he/she. Some horses that have been rescued need a lot of work and sometimes have psychological issues and can be very difficult AND skittish.
you can see some horses in just about any state you want at

www.horsetopia.com or at www.equinehits.com make sure you use the temperament and rider skill advisements on the ads and match the horse you want with the horsemanship skills you have there is even ads for lessons on those sites if you need them
Most rescue horses require serious retraining and time to heal from past neglect or abuse. Some are injured an incapable of performing some tasks under saddle, such as jumping or galloping. Others have serious behavioral issues that first time horse owners might not be able to handle. Unless you're prepared to spend a lot of money on a professional trainer and a vet to combat any medical issues, you might want to consider a private seller. There are plenty of good riding horses that some people have outgrown or college-bound students need to sell before the start of school. I suggest first looking at the following websites: equine.com. dreamhorse.com, equinehits.com, and horsetopia.com. They all have search engines where you can type in your price range and state of residence.

Remember when looking for a horse to seriously evaluate your abilities and your expenses. If you don't have the money to hire a professional trainer or aren't a very experienced rider, something green, young, or off the track is probably a poor match for you. If you're a novice or intermediate, I suggest looking for an older horse (between 10 and 15, up to 20 if you won't be jumping or doing strenuous work). Seasoned horses usually are calmer and have a steady nature. They've been there, done that, and can be valuable teachers for the novice rider. Most are much less expensive than younger horses because they're not quite as capable of handling a strenuous work load. That being said, I know many horses in their late teens that continue to jump and compete on a show circuit. They can make fabulous partners for the right rider as long as you make sure to take care of their joints and watch for afflictions that particularly affect older horses (Cushings, for example).
    Check http://www.my-petz.com/pet%20classifieds...

They don't have any now but post a free ad. They have examples on the bottom. Just email them %26amp; they will post it on.
Here is a link to alot of recuses and humane societies in Texas.
try equinehits, but I don't know if you'll be able to get one free. Cheap, maybe, but not free. I'd just plan on spending the $3000 and get a good horse. Cheap and free mean that the horse has problems.

    HORSES FOR SALE NEAR MANCHESTER?

Does any one know any horses for sale?!?! IM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING 0-15 YEARS OF AGE - 15.2HH+ AND NOTHING MORE THAn 拢1500? :DHORSES FOR SALE NEAR MANCHESTER?
This isn't an advertising site. When you put a wanted advert out, put more information on. You want a horse 0 - 15? That's a bit wide - you either want a foal/weanling, or you want a youngster, or a just broke one, or a green 5yo, or an 8yo one to take further, or you want an older schoolmaster/mistress - you can't want all of them. What do you want to do with the horse, what kind of rider are you, what type of horse? etc etc. There are so many things you need to include.

Anyone out there have A dead broke cheep horse for sale?

My family is getting an exchange student, and she loves horses. Our horses are either green or barrel horses, and we want her to be as safe as possible. So we would really love to suprise her with a broke horse that is on the cheeper side, so she has something to ride for the ten months she is here, and once she leaves my brothers girlfriend, can use. So let me know if you have a dead broke cheep horse for sale near shasta county, in California. THANKS!!!!Anyone out there have A dead broke cheep horse for sale?
Contact your humane societies, they're aware of any larger livestock that may need help, from abandoned livestock, abuse cases, or whatever. They can put you in touch with someone if there's a horse on their list.

Also contacting any farm vets would be a good call, they'd be in the phone book.

I would think that however much you bought the horse for or maybe the money you put into for lessons and then up that price. 5 is a good age and it sounds like a good horse for a kid to get started with. Remember to keep the price resonable though.

Be careful who you buy from...I found my nightmare seller on a horse site. Was ripped off thousands of dollars by a Oklahoma horse seller that sedated the horse and misrepresented horse disposition and skill. The horse is dangerous and spooks at the wind...bolted and ran over me broke my knee, tibia and tore my menicious,,,surgery next week. Stated he backed his horses but does not...He has done this to others. Google complaints on seller first. Just FYI.. dangerous and is a auction horse at best. Still stuck with him for a year...if I send to auction he will end up as on killer truck to Mexico...just can't do that...now the seller ..that woud be another story. Try calling local Vet.'s offices or go to horse events ask around there are lots of horses for sale now. I will never buy out of state again Just do homework bad horses are worth nothing..This horse has been turned down by trainers...that is bad..... Good luck

    * go to a feed or tack store to check out their bulletin boards....usually people will put up flyers of the horses they are selling

    * go to a auction.....but you should bring your trainer or someone well expreinced to help you out in finding a horse there so you dont get ripped off

    * go to your local horse rescue or animal rescue to see if their are any adoptable horses.

Click the QH, TB, BWB sales list. I think celso donner would be good...just a suggestion. He just got done with a chiropractic thing because the people who broke him tied his head to the ground and he got problems from that. We're going to start riding him soon, he has jumped before and looks like he'll make a wonderful jumper.

You say you are looking for a horse to buy in Indiana, and yet you also have said you want to start an anti horse slaughter website. I think you need to get educated before you buy anything, or you will just be contributing yourself to the problem you are supposedly trying to solve. Trying to find a horse at that price is going to be a problem- and once you get it, where are you going to keep it, and who is going to pay for the feed and care it requires?? You sound like a kid to me, and one who really needs to take some lessons and learn some things before you buy or commit yourself to taking care of a horse. 13 hands is a mighty small animal- only 3 feet tall at the withers. Are you short enough that you won't outgrow such an animal, Lulu? Do your parents know about these dreams of yours? That's what I think you are really doing, is dreaming.

Think about it. BTW: I was raised in Indiana, near West Lafayette, which is where Purdue University is located. If all else fails, you might be able to get a horse by contacting one of the vets at the vet school there, or perhaps one of the students. Just a thought.
    hey!

    What is a mare?

Can I buy a saddle? bridle? stalls? grooming supplies?

ok, if you pass this little 'test' then consider buying a horse

How do I price horse for sale?

I have 4 horse and I want to sell them is there any place or way to find out what price to sell them for? And is there any place i can factor for the horse that have good blood line (i have proof of the blood lines)? How do I price horse for sale?
The only way other than you setting a price for your equine is to have your horse appraised. There are certain things that they'll look for in the horse though.

First being Breeding- is the horse registered or not(appraisers will consider the equine grade even if you have a stallion report or a copy of registration- they want to see the certificate given to you by the breed organization.) You'll get plus if the horse has proven money earning horses on his papers.

Also looking at the conformation of the equine. Is the horse symmetrical and pleasing to the eye. If the horse is a mare- does she look like a mare?

They'll look at the health or soundness of the equine. A vet check is required to have your horse appraised. This is so any lameness or health problems can be documented.

Then there is training- how much training has the horse had on him? In what disciplines was he trained? Was he trained by a certified trainer or a professional? And has the horse competed and proven his training?

Most appraisers will also want to see you ride the horse to evaluate how easy the horse is to handle, his temperament, how he acts under saddle, and how well he responds to his training. If he's a roping horse- they'll want to see him rope the same with any other discipline.

I have my horses appraised each year because of my equine insurance and for sale purposes. What my appraiser tells everyone- it's hard to put a price on a loved pet, but even harder when someone else does.

If you choose to have an appraisal done on your equine- keep an open mind....because if everyone could get what they thought their animal was worth- we'd all be rich men!

You can't put a price on memories- but you can't sell the memories for the price. How do I price horse for sale?
    Pedigree and Confirmation
The main things to consider in pricing a horse are: health, training, age, conformation and bloodline....sometimes color also comes into play. Check around in your area to see what similar horses are selling for, then you can base your price around those because you know what people are willing to pay for a comparable horse. Hope this helps.
I don't know that there is an exact site...but I usually look at what similar horses are going for in my area, plus factor in temperment, registered or not, desirability, looks, conformation.

honestly, bloodlines count for very little to most people...I mean yeah, they are fun to look at..but they don't always mean much.

only serious show people go all ga-ga for bloodlines.

I have an arab mare with wonderful, spectacular bloodlines..she is club footed, and cow hocked! (not to say she isn't wonderful..but you can't win halter shows with her bloodlines alone!)

but she'll out cut-cows your quarter horses anytime! :-)
    Try Equine.com.
Do you have access to a reliable horse person , if you do and their not interested in buying you horses , ask them to evaluate them for you . You might go to sale barn in your area and see what horses are selling for .

It depends on their age , size , training and if they are registered with a breed registry .

Here is a price you can start your assessment , if you like ( in my area ) A 7 yr gelding 15.2 h reg APHA well broke for a older child and a good conformation would go for around $ 2500.00 . A mare bred to a Champion Stud and like the gelding would go up to $ 5000.00 / You can add or subtract from that price if your horses are graded up or down . You can contact me if you need more information

I have 40 years expereance with showing , raising and selling horses .
    I AM INTERESTED!!!!

i have 2 horses and tommy, my horse just died as he was in excrusiating pain from being lame. I miss having 3 horses.

I know a lot about horses, as i had 3 and i had baught them all with my money and trained/broke them all too.

could you e-mail me so i can ask you some more questions on your horses?

    love.malachai@yahoo.ca

    aussie_canadien@hotmail.com
You can post your horses on horsetopia.com or dreamhorse.com. as far as pricing im not sure unless i had a description and picture. look at other horses posted that are simular to yours and go from there.
There is a really good article on how to price your horse in the new issue of the Paint Horse Journal. I would be happy to scan and email it to you.
The things that matter most are level of training, health and disposition.

Check in the classified section of your newspaper and see what horses are selling for. It varies from one region to the next and in some areas, from one season to the next. In Maine, pleasure horses can be obtained for under $1,000 - less in late fall. In Florida, you can get a lemon for a couple thousand. It all depends on supply and demand.
You should look in your local Classifieds to find out what similar type breed is selling at in your area. Then you adjust for training, age, bloodline and any used tack accompanying the sale.
depends on how broke they are, what breed they are and how old they are. An unbroke, papered horse should sell for no more than $2000, I start ticking off 100 bucks if it is 1. not a quarter horse, 2. not a paint, 3. not over 14.3 hands 4. not had proper hoof trimming, 5. not had proper vaccinations, 6. won't load, stand for farrier or tie, 7. if it is over 3 years old and unbroke...

As you can see, your horse probably isn't worth very much, under $1,000 that is if you can sell it at all. Just be honest in your ad. Bloodlines will increase the cost, but if your horse moves crappy, has lameness issues or is insane forget selling it on papers only.
If it is a gift horse you have to look it in the mouth.

Have you advertised your horse locally in the paper? We get the best results doing this than on sites. Here are some, you might have to check, but most of these are free. We've sold horses for awhile, but like I said we got the best results from our local paper.

    are you giving it away.

    being forsale free,
    Try www.petfinder.com
try gumtree, it does ad's for everywhere and it's free.
er .... for those that didn't realise, the asker wishes to advertise, but free of charge (via a website). The new owner will have to pay the purchase price before receiving the horse. So .... a free advert, not a free horse.

Just read what it says. OK, it could have been worded more clearly - I'll grant you that!
www.simply-horses.co.uk try that hope it is helpful
Please don't do this. Give it to an equestrian rescue centre, like this one www.retreathorserescue.co.uk If you give a horse away for free, you are basically inviting any weirdo along, who might want to take it away to abuse it, or to live on a traveller site, so all the horrible little children can bare back ride it.

If you care anything about where this horse will end up, give it to a rescue, DO NOT put a free ad anywhere.
I Have to agree with natanat,I am an animal lover, natanat gave you great advice, PLEASE don't just give this horse away.

I wish you well and hope you find what you are looking for.
If you have a horse, tack, transport or any thing else equestrian you would like to sell through our site please go to the ';place an add'; page and fill in the details. All private classified adverts are totally free of charge and will be displayed on our site for a period of 3 months.

  • Horses For Sale at My Farm?

I have exactly 53 horses for sale currently, but does anybody want a PERFECT horse? Her name is Melody and shes a beautiful white rare horse. No one exactly knows what she is, but there are very few of her kind. Her show name is Melody of the Moon. She is a show horse, but not as often as my other horses. She is also used as a riding lesson horse for adults, but not many people will choose Melody, or they have their own horse. If you would like her trophies (16) and medals (10), I can arrange half of the trophies, half of medals. She is in our HORSE HALL OF FAME. She is in the Lakeberry Wilson Stables. Please answer the following, and I will match you up with a perfect horse, whether for fun or for real. 1.What kind of show do you like? 2.Do you like horses for the love or money? 3.Will you be changing the name for any reason? 4.What level are you in of riding???????? I am trying to find a horse that is from 13.0 hands to 14.2 hands and that is a beginner horse. I love horse and am going to try to become an equine vet. I probably well actually most likely won't be changing the name.

where in the U.S are you located? how much do you sell your horses for? i ride horses at a ranch near my house and have been thinking of getting one of my own.
I would love a horse but I am expecting soon and will be a bit busy for ridding. We live in Alberta ans are renting a acreage with a riding arena and everything else you could ask for for owning a horse here. Unfortunately we are not allowed any pets or horses. We want to buy land and maybe by next summer I will be ready to buy a horse or 2. I have owned horses in the past but that was many years ago when I was a teen. I am not picky on what kind of horse as long as it is sound and has had a bit of training. I wouldn't change the name if it suits the horse. I am an experienced rider but could always learn new tricks. I just love horses and will have one and my baby to be is going to be a girl so I plan to get her right in there with horses when she gets older.
what kind is it and how much and where in the country
ok I will answer the questions for you.

For horses to rescue, check out Petfinder.com and click on ';horses'; and enter your zip code. You'll see photos and descriptions of rescued horses that are up for adoption. This might be a less expensive way to find a great horse and to do a good thing. Other rescues with horses are: hopeforhorses.com and the SPCA of Texas in McKinney.

    17. May I contact the horse's vet, trainer or farrier? What kind of questions do I need to ask about a horse for sale?
Ask what breed, and if it matters to you, ask whether its a pure or cross bred. How old it is and how long the owner has had it.

You should definitely ask if it's had regular vet visits, if it's up to date on all vaccines and etc. How recently shoes have been changed..

Also ask if the horse has any special dietary or medical issues (teeth, legs, etc.) or if it needs any kind of special attention. You might want to ask if it's ever been pregnant or seriously injured.

ask about the cost..and even ask if you could schedule a visit to see the horse..

    good luck!!
First of all, soundness. If the horse is not 100% sound, chances are that it will get worse over time. Don't buy a horse where you will have to spend a lot of time cold hosing it, or walking it, or resting it, etc. Ask if it has any vices or bad habits. Then ask about how bomb proof it is. Ask if it trailers and clips. It's age, fitness level, training level, showing ability, experience in general, etc are all good things to cover. Do not be afraid to ask lots and LOTS of questions. Cover all the areas that you need to know about your horse. Hope this helps.
When I bought my first horse these are the kind of questions I asked...

    1. Does he have any bad habbits like cribbing, wind sucking %26amp; so on? (If he has any bad habbits you need to know about them to see if they can be sorted)

    2. Why are you selling? (Alot of sellers have their reasons like the horse is to small %26amp; so on)

    3. What does he spook at? (If he spooks at something %26amp; you're not aware of it you could be in real danger say if he doesn't like traffic)

    4. How long have you owned him? (The longer they've owned him to better becuase the more they'll know about him)

    5. Could I lease/loan him for 5 weeks before I make my desicion? (If they don't allow you to do this there COULD be a slight problem with the horse if he's moved yards and so on)

    6. Is ok if my riding instructor comes to check him out? (You need an experienced buyer/rider or all around horse person)

    7. Will you ride him first? (If they won't the horse usually has some sort of bad riding habbit)

    8. Has he ever had any bad injuries that will stop him doing stuff? (Say if he's fallen bad %26amp; damaged his legs he might not be able to jump or compete)

    9. Is he good with other horses (This is something improtant you want a horse who will get on with others if he's staying at a livery)

    10. Is he prone to anything? (if he's prone to laminities or colic you need to know)

    11. Can you load him into a trailer? (Some horses don't load %26amp; can become dangerous if they're scared)

    12. The basics like Is he good to catch, groom, load, bath %26amp; so on (You need to know that so you know if you'll be able to handle him)

    13. The basics about him! Like his age/breed %26amp; so on (Just incase you're looking for something pacific)

    14. His past owners (If the owner doesn't know the person HE/SHE bought the horse off of you could take a chance in it being a stolen horse)

    15. Is he good with children (If you keep a horse at a livery there is bound to be children who will want to stroke him)

Hope this helps %26amp; hope you get what you're looking for =]

When I buy my horses I always Make sure I know the height, breed, color, gender. If your looking for a gelding make sure he really is gelded, I've known some people who have have been cheated on that. Ask About the horses past and his health and you may want to come in contact with the horses previous owners. Ask if there has ever been any lameness, tendon problems, any broken bones. Ask if the horse is spooky and the temperment with a good description. Ask what the horse has done(barrels, hunters, dressage, ect.) Ask if the horse has had any problems with any discipline you may want to do in the future. Make sure he dosn't have any bad habbits, bolting, bucking, rearing, biting, cribbing, ect. Ask if he trailers/loads well, if he clips, bathes. I'm sure you'll come up with other things to ask but these are the basics.
