    Police horse for sale?

Usually there will be a horse auction once a month in a lot of different cities. Call the local cattle auction barn and ask them when their next horse sale is and if they have an annual prison horse sale. Prisons usually auction off some of their stock annually or semi annually. Also you can take a look at www.dreamhorse.com and look for an ex police horse. I would love to have greatly trained police horse myself.

    http://www.equinehits.com/Horse for sale site?
Never heard of them. My favorite is http://www.liverystable.net because it has training articles and horse care tips besides classified advertising.

    Some other good ones are:

    http://www.equisearch.com

    http://www.horsecity.com

    http://www.agdirect.com
i've never heard of that site. i always go to liverystable.net to look for horses for sale. i've sold them on it also.
A lot of people I know go to dream horse. I have bought and sold horses off of this site. It works really good. And every one I have dealt with there has been real nice. Though some do not reply promptly.

For hunter jumpers try here, I have viewed several on usahorsesales. but out of my price range...that was over a year ago.

I was told about horse direct but didn't find anything wonderful there.

The links are below. Have FUN!
Well, I know a really great free classified ads site called Stumblehere.com. I buy and sell horses and farm equipment through their classifieds monthly. You should check it out too.

Horse for sale for $101. Do they mean $101,000?

I am looking at horses to buy and one of them is priced at $101. Now this horse is way to impressive to be $101, but the horse is DEFINITELY NOT impressive enough to be selling for 101,000. So what does $101 mean?Horse for sale for $101. Do they mean $101,000?
its probably a private ad. they just put that cause the website makes you list a price. they expect you to call and ask about the price 'cause they dont want to list something like 20,000 dollars online.

edit: meagan- ha, i think we had some trolls stroll on through, cause every single one of us has 2 thumbs down and 1 thumb up haha.Horse for sale for $101. Do they mean $101,000?
People do that. They will also put $1 when they want you to contact them for the price.

When I first started my ';hobby'; looking at horses for sale. I was always confused when you would see this horse easily worth 100k and then they said $101. I started this when I was like 12 so I would contact the people all excited thinking I was going to be able to buy this amazing horse with my savings money but they would always reply saying something ';no his price is 85k'; or something. They just want you to contact them for the price. Some sites that allow you to advertise your horse for sale make you put in a price and won't let you say ';contact for price'; so they pick the common $1 or $101.
If it's on a site like warmblood-for-sale.com that has a lot of high quality horses, often the owner will put that to mean that you must inquire for the price. It may mean that they are accepting offers rather than setting a price or that the price is so high that they don't want to immediately set off potential buyers. You'd have to contact the owner to find out the real price.

If the ad looks fishy, like the picture just seems too pretty, something that would fit in a calendar or a magazine then it might be a scam. A high priced horse should at least have its pedigree viewable and the description of the horse is generally rather lengthy. If things like the color and height are incorrect, the horse doesn't look exactly the same in all the pictures, it's performing in an odd discipline for its breed, it's probably fake.
I have not seen this add, but a horse selling for $101 is probably not a good horse. If this horse is impressive, it could mean that the horse is injured or has a bad temperament, also some sellers say the horse is selling for that price and when you come and look it, fall in love with it then they say ';Oh no! Must have been a typo the horse is actually...'; Don't get scammed, it sucks!
    No it is a scam.

Either that or else they actually mean super super expensive beyond belief so they just thought they would be clever and put that so more people would look at it.

And then I guess some how they planned to eventually break the news to them. Like a private treaty ad

Sounds like a waste of time to me.

    Edit---

Foxhunter1949, that is a very cool law. I wish it was in the U.S.

And why do I have two thumbs down? Am I wrong? I wish people that thumbs other people down would just answer the question so they can ';enlighten'; us wrong folks
sometimes sellers put a random price like that or it could just be $1 or $10 cause you have to post the ad with a number price when they would rather talk about a price instead of having a set price

meagan k: everyone has thumbs down and almost all of our answers are the same kinda thing, i guess we're all wrong then :/ and yeah i think that would be a great law
In the UK there is a law that says if a price is advertised then that is the price!

Amazon lost out because it advertised DVDs for a very low price by mistake, and they had to sell them for that amount.

Wouldn't it be great if they advertised for a low price and had to sell it for that? LOL
Beware of scams. equinenow has a few adds for Gypsy Vanners and Friesians for ridiculously low prices like $100 or $200. They are just scams to get information from you.

    Horse for sale: opinions/ideas...?

I would like opinions on how I can improve sell-ability of this horse...anything I can add to the advert., or anything I should remove?

    thanks

    http://www.equinehits.com/horses-for-sal…Horse for sale: opinions/ideas...?
    Re: Photos

All your photos are very similar, I would keep the second photo as no part is in shadow, although is does look less croup high in the first photo. Being a 2 year old though she can get away with that.

How about a nice head shot(she has a nice head), of her running/grazing, and of her with children as she is advertised as an ideal child’s horse.

    Re: Description

Brake up the description a bit. People that are looking at this ad would have read lots of others and the will be scanning rather then reading the text. Make it as easy as possible. Break it in to paragraphs and make the sentences as short and simple as possible i.e.

“If you are looking for a show or 4-H/Pony club horse: Mystique is for you!” can be “Will make great 4-H or PC horse.”

You can have a paragraph for an intro (her best bits), looks, temperament and potential, then training, manners and health.

    Do not say this

“Her price is not low because there is anything wrong with her. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her, she is truly the best horse we have. Her price is so low because she is not yet saddle broke, and has not been shown halter throughout her young life as she could/should have been.”

It sounds like you are trying too hard to emphasis there is nothing wrong. Instead give reason for sale, and something like “Price reflects training, of this very trainable filly.” Say that she is healthy and sound and you are open to a vetting.

“We would like her to stay in the washington/oregon area. We also offer full help in saddle training her if purchased locally.”

Don’t start putting conditions on the sale before someone has even phoned. Say something like “We can offer help in saddle training, if the buyer is in the Washington/Oregon area.” If you want her to stay in the area, advertise locally.

    Instead of

“Great, APPROVED HOME ONLY. NO OUT OF COUNTRY/OUT OF STATE SALES, DON'T EVEN ASK!”

say “We will want approve any new home, therefore out of state sales are problematic.” Don’t use caps

I hope that helps and you find a good home for your filly. She nicely marked.Horse for sale: opinions/ideas...?
Hey - Try putin ad in proper place! Since it is either 4 racing, riding, show or work, it isn't really a Pet or expensive 1! Sho w/ peeple if it's so gentle. Also What can s/he do, if trained?
First of all I do think the ad is a little wordy. It seems as though you are over stressing the good ground manners. I would have to wonder about a two year old with a temperment on the low end of the scale. My first impression would be it sounds like the owner is trying very hard to get rid of this horse, and I would wonder why? In addition, I would hope someone wouldn't buy a horse this young as a 4-H project for a child. The horse should go to someone who has experience or is willing to take the time to bring out her full potential. I also think the photos would look better if her feet were under her and she was squared up a bit.
Helo - Can we see something 2 put it in scale - ex person?
If she has been ridden I think you should add pics of you/friends riding her, that way every one will see that she is ridable
    Aw, she's super-cute!

So here's what I think you can do...

She probably hasn't been ridden yet, which makes her harder to sell, because if no one knows how she'll be under saddle then she's a riskier buy. But you can counteract that by showing pictures of her movement. Get some pictures of her trotting and free-jumping. Post those, because good movement makes her much more desirable!

-Personally I would try not to emphasize the kid factor too much. Most parents are hesitant to buy very young horses for their children. Instead, emphasize how good she'll be as a project for a teen or as a prospect.

-Your paragraph is a little disorganized. I suggest you put all of her history and personality in the first part, all of her potential in the middle, and all of her current stats (UTD stuff, clips, loads, etc) at the end.

    Hope that helps!
Since you are interested in selling her locally, Make sure to put ads in local feed stores, classified ads, and even hardware stores.
well. if i lived in washington I would definately take her! she is quite a looker and has beautiful color!! i think the thing that is killing it is the way you have things set out for the sale of her. you have in capital locks '; NO OUT OF STATE/OUT OF AREA'; MUST STAY IN WASHINGTON. i agree with you about wanting to make sure she goes to a good home and loving people, but there are other ways to make this work for everyone. you can sell her out of state, but you must ask for 3 or more equine-related references . this must include a vet, farrier, and personal references. you should be able to call and talk to all of these people, and make a decision then. also, have them send a pic or two of the family that will be caring for her. you can also make them sign a contract saying that they will provide necessary care and love and they will never sell, breed, or euthanize said horse without your permission. if they do, you have the right to take her back. also, you can arrange check-ins with them, like ever 3 months, to make sure she is doing good and everything. good luck!
she's a good looking horse--i would buy her if i was in the area (and had the money and time for another horse). anyway, i think you should show a pic of her saddled up. also, i would reword where it says that about the out-of-state sales...i would just take it out and when someone contacts you that is out of state, tell them then. or just put that you prefer to sell her to someone within 50/60/100 miles or whatever. this is just a small thing, but i would take out where it says aout her low price not being because something is wrong with her. even though it is true, i would probably say something more along the lines of ';priced to sell quickly.'; finally, the pictures look good, but consider taking some where she is standing more firm and still-- a couple of the pics kinda look like she was moving around alot and you had to snap them when you could--this makes it look like she wont stand when asked to. nice horse, though and hope you can sell her to a good home
First thing I would do is clean her up a bit more and make her look more like a show pony. Trim up her mane. Also, in all of her pictures, you have her standing over at the knees. She looks like she is leaning forward in all of them. Square her up and she will look tons better, Crop your pictures a bit more to take out as much of the distractions in the background as you can. You may say instead of no out of state or country sales, ask for a complete name, address and phone number from all serious inquiries. This will sort out the scammers and tire kickers (they will not provide this). Good Luck. She is really pretty.
all i have to say is around here (New England) your horse would sell really quick. its hard to find a nice, decently priced horse. I think your horse will sell just fine.

    Good Luck!

I think if you want a challenging horse you should look at horses at your local animal rescue league. You could probably find what you're looking for and help out a horse. You could also look into adopting a mustang or buying a horse at an auction. If you do this, I hope you get one that is in need of a home (like due to it's ';unrideability';).

I'm also curious though as to why you want one? Just for the challenge?
I don't think Y!A is the place where you will find a horse.

Try dreamhorse.com (though your description isn't necessarily a 'dream horse')

You also would want to look at your local animal shelter. They have abused or neglected horses that fit Your descriptions.

You also would want to talk to a local trainer who is training a horse like this.

Chances are people with that type of horse aren't looking to sell it on the internet.

And by the way, why are you looking for a horse like this anyway?

Many people ask for this type of horse to drug them at an auction and make a quick buck. Hopefully that isn't you.....
No but I know exactly where you can get one! People come from all over eastern US to get the horses there....there's a lot of spirited horses there. It's in GA, if you're interested.
Adopt a 7 to 14 year old mustang.

There is no best time of the month, although winter is a good time to buy because horses are much cheaper because people sell excess stock so they don't have huge feed bills and extra work, which you don't have during the rest of the year. Christmas is a great time to buy a horse because often people need the money, so sell cheaper than they would do otherwise.

Nice Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds in need of a home and second career.
equine.com is the one i always surf around on
Agdirect is another good site. Right now, the horse market is in the toilet, I would think you should be able to find something decent in your price range. But, you should also balance that against the cost of wintering one. Not sure how your hay situation is there, but here it's miserable. Hay can be found, if you are diligent and look, but it's pricey. If I were looking right now, to be honest, especially since I'm a ';fair weather rider';, I'd hold off. While horses will be more expensive in the spring (or at least they usually are) it may well be offset by saving money by not wintering one.
I think the best time of year to buy a horse is right when people go off to college. Look in tack stores around your area - they should have some for sale signs up! Hope that helps!

I used to own 2 horses (arabs--I loved them but I know they're not for everyone). You sound as if you know a few things already, but here's my opinion and experience, for what it's worth.

There are a lot of ';horse traders'; out there (if you know what I mean), so be careful not to let yourself get fleeced. My best advice is contact an equine vet and have any horse you're seriously considering completely checked over before you commit. The vet will be able to identify any serious health concerns that the seller may ';forget'; to tell you about.

Unfortunately, you're not talking about a lot of money, and that in itself will run you into problems. Most horses that are that cheap are likely to have serious (and later expensive) health problems that can sometimes make them completely unrideable. You may think you're saving yourself money now, but believe me, you'll be sorry you did later when you run into expensive vet bills and a horse you can't ride.

I know that owning a horse is expensive, but you might want to consider either spending more money (to me, I'd say at least twice as much as you've listed) or leasing a horse instead of outright buying it. That way, you can get out from under fairly easily later on, and the owner will still retain some responsibility for the animal if things go wrong.
    Hey

I always look at equinehits.com because you can do a search by breed and by state by disipline and so much more :) Well i hope i helped. Also you can do get directions so you know how to get there! Can you tell me if you get a horse from there? I would like to see which one you get or got :) Thanks hope i helped!
I honestly do not think that you are going to find a Hunter Jumper for that ammount of money. The reason I say this is because it will probably be an Arab or OTTB if you do. My friend is having the same problem as well.
Have you tried horse deals? It has a webby and a mag. In the mag go to the back and there they have horses for a thousand or less. I don't know whether its just for Australia or not though.
If you'd like I would be able to find you a great horse on Petfinder in your area and for your price If you want just let me know thank!
    I don't know what you've tried but I've used

    equine.com

    equinehits.com

    horseville.com

    horsetopia.com

    dreamhorse.com
    search the internet some more..............
for all the people on here who said that you cant find a good horse for this much money, i'm proof that its completely possible. my first horse, an awesome but greenbroke QH who now wins EVERYTHING, was 1,250, and thats just a teeny bit more than 1000. my 6yo mare was also 1,250. now she is an OTTB but she was pretty well-trained in HUS. (i trained my first horse start to finish, so i kinda wanted something that i didnt have to deal with the very beginnings of teaching the canter) so just keep looking, and dont disregard a horse because of the picture, there are a lot of diamonds out there, you just need to shine them up! and another piece of advice is not to look for a completely broke horse, go a little green, because it IS hard to find a wellbroke sound H/J. so best of luck to you on your horse search! =)

Oh, and also, look in your local equine rescues. my new arab is a rescue, and i volunteer out where i got him, and let me tell you, there are some AWESOME horses at the rescues, they only need to be given an opportunity! and not all of them were abused, some were donated because of financial problems. trust me and just take a look! =)

Enjoy your search. I know I did! And it's worth it to get a vet check! Mine cost 120$, and the vet did a thorough check.

i would like a quite horse that is ride-able for an inexperienced rider. should be loadable, good with getting saddled, good with hose, trail riding, ride in english and western saddle. can lope/canter in correct lead and has ground manners. thank you very muchDoes anyone have a horse for sale?
You haven't said where you're located.

As you're inexperienced you're better off talking to a qualified local instructor or equine vet (not just a friend of a friend who happens to have some horses) and use them to help you find a horse suitable for you and advise you on the care needs/costs etc.Does anyone have a horse for sale?
Horses like the one you have described are worth their weight in gold and can be very expensive. However, because you are an inexperienced rider, I wouldn't recommend jumping into horse ownership just yet. You'd be better off to take more lessons until you have learned every aspect of horse ownership. Remember, horsemanship goes well beyond riding.

In Canada they breed horses for Premarin, which is a drug for menopause. There are thousands of young mares, most of which are kept pregnant because they use urine from pregnant horses to make the drug. You can adopt/rescue the mares from the farms and bring them to the US to train and ride. Many of these horses are draft breeds but they are perfectly good horses who are abused and have miserable lives. Help them first! Going to look at a horse for sale..?

    What should I look for?

Any advice?(:Going to look at a horse for sale..?
You didn't tell us much about the horse you're going to look at but look at the horse's legs to make sure there aren't any bows, ringbone, etc. Watch the horse travel at a walk, trot and canter. Remember not all stables have manure piles to land in if you get unseated, so hope the arena has a LOT of sand. San Dimas had a LOT of rocks. (Hi Lara!)

I hope you get to ride the animal as well. If you like the horse, then schedule an appointment with a vet and have him/her check the horse out and if you don't know the horse or it's sellers, then get the vet to do a blood work on the animal so you'll know that there's no drugs in the horse's system.Going to look at a horse for sale..?
Are you looking at the horse, as in you already know about it and are going to see it? In that case, catch the horse from the paddock, groom, pick his hooves and tack up YOURSELF...a lot of problems can be avoided that way. When you ride him, do circles, see if he knows lateral (sideways) work, and do a lot of what you are buying him for. For instance, if you want a jumper, do lots of jumps (duh.)

If you are looking for a horse, look for size, breed only if you are interested in breeding the horse later, and experience of the horse. Has he been ridden by your level of rider before? Does he know how to do what you want him to do? Has he shown before? Find out as much as you can about the horse before going to see him. Age is also important. Depending on your skill level, you may want an unbroken horse (0-about 3 or 4), a greenbroke horse(2-6), a ';finished'; or ';made'; horse (7-any age) or an older, more experienced horse. (13+) I wouldn't advise a horse under 6 for a beginner or novice rider. Good luck!
Watch its eyes, does it seem to blink a lot, could be sedated.

If its a gelding check its willy isn't hanging out, again sedated.

Watch if displays normal behaviour, it watches everything normally and doesn't suddenly start - again sedated.

Don't buy it without having it blood tested for bute at least.

Check for soundness - make sure you can ride or lunge it whatever is appropriate on a suitable surface, dont accept a rough area of ground as its difficult to tell then.

    Check its confimation.

    Check its action.

Check its feet, ridges, mean change of gras/feed, laminitus, change of home etc.

Feel for heat and swellings anywhere.

Ask whether its ever had, colic, laminitus whether its cold backed, bucks, rears, bolts etc.

Ask what its like in the stable, with other horses, without other horses.

Check its suitable for the purpose you want it for, i.e if thats hacking then it goes out with/without other horses. If thats competing then check its credentials with relevant society.

Does it load, farrier, catch, clip etc.

    Does it stable well.

When was it last ridden and how often.

What is it fed and how does it do on food, could cost you a fortune or worry you if you turn it out on grass.

Any saddle marks, may cause problems psychologically and physically.

Check its tack make sure its ridden in suitable tack for the person whose going to ride it.

Ask that someone else rides it first!

If its a pony club pony then ask the local DC her opinion.

Why is it for sale and how long have they had it.

Look for splins, windgalls blemishes etc.

Above all take someone else with you preferably someone who is experienced (even if you are four eyes are better than two) and dont fall in love with it even if you are told a sob story. Go with a hard heart.

    Good luck

Ask the current owner of the horse any questions you can about the horse and remember there is no such thing as a stupid question. Examine the horse yourself and ask questions like how does she do with the farrrier, the vet ect. Make sure you're almost positive that the owner is telling the truth. Good luck with your new horse and Congratulations! :)
Before you ride the horse have the owner ride the horse in all three gaits in front of you. Some people will come up with excuses like ';I have back problems so I can't'; when the real issue is that the horse will buck them off. If they say they can't, then tell them to find someone who can. If you do not know much about conformation, take a knowledgeable friend with you. Examine the horse's composure. Does he seem spooky? Timid towards new people? Is he headshy when you try to pet his face? Make you sure you get a vet check and that the horse is UTD on shots and his coggins. Ask about any injuries, illnesses. Hope that helps!
Your haven't supplied enough information to even attempt to begin to answer this question!

The answer to your questions will depend on your experience as a rider, what you plan to do with the horse (show, trail ride, trot around the back yard), your age and physical build (if you are 5'11'; and 200 lbs, don't buy a pony) and how much money you have.

I wanted to buy a horse the first week I started riding (as an adult). My instructor talked me out of it. She said that the horse I would ride as a beginner is a different horse than the one I would buy after riding a few years....and she was right! I rode as many different horses as I could and showed a few. I leased a few too, even working in exchange for my lease.

My next riding instructor wanted me to buy a 17 hand Irish Thoughbred for $10,000. He was a great horse, and at 5'10';, 150 lbs I did look good on him, but I didn't have $10,000 or the resourses to show him regularly. It would have been a shame not to show him.

What I finally wound up with is a quarter horse, 16'2' that I can trot around my riding ring and go on occasional trail rides. I paid $1500 for him and he's perfect.

What's the perfect horse for you? Listen to your instructor, but go with your gut. And for goodness sake, have him vetted before you buy him (or her)! A good vet can save you alot of headaches down the road.

Are you taking lessons? Have you thought about leasing a horse? Really need alot more information to answer this one!

When creating a horse for sale add...?

    What details do you include?

I know, age, breed, gender, height, color, markings, discipline, what else do I need?

    Also a picture.

I've never made an add before, so any info at all would be much appreciated. When creating a horse for sale add...?
Take a photo according to this guide:

    http://www.equisearch.com/horses_care/he鈥?/a>

You need a really good photo if you expect to sell the horse quickly. The horse must be standing on level ground in good light with no saddle on.

    I like to hear...

-any injuries or unsoundnesses the horse has (cribbing, weaving, etc encluded)

-if it loads, clips, ties, hauls, stands for farrier. You can just say ';clips, ties, loads, stands for farrier';. The shorter the better.

-what training it has had, and if the training was done by a professional.

    -show record if applicable

A SHORT ad is the best ad. People don't care what your horse's favorite treat is and they don't want to hear every boring detail of its life. They just want the facts, pure and simple, in an easy to read format (so no long paragraphs). Long ads tend to bore people and they move on without reading all of it.When creating a horse for sale add...?
Describe the type of work you have done with the horse, the type of rider it would suit, ie young adult, child, lead rein pony, suitable for an experienced/novice rider. State whether the horse is good in traffic, to shoe, to box, to clip. If he's good around dogs, spooky or not spooky. You are more likely to get responses if you put down the price you're looking for also. After the price say 'no offers' or 'ono-or nearest offer' or 'ovno-or very near offer'. State whether tack/rugs etc are being sold with the horse (if they are) and if he's newly shod state that too.

And DON'T forget to say 'no dealers' and 'to good home only!' =]

    good luck!
Price, temperament with other horses and people, bloodlines, showing experience, potential disciplines, skill level, housing requirements (stall, pasture, both, etc.), health (try to put the good things :D), if he is registered, and general location.

I hope that this helps :)
First of all remember to be honest :) Also you should include why you are selling your horse, health (problems and good things), bloodlines, show experience what their temperament is like, some special qualities or abilities, and the cost of your horse.
Really try to put in a profile shot (from the side) for the photo. It shows a horse's conformation, which is important to a lot of people. When I'm looking at horse adds, I always appreciate a good profile photo with the horse's head up!
a cleaned up, conformation picture and a picture under saddle in action. training level, experience of person needed to handle (good for beginner's, experienced, ect.), show record
Those are all really good. I would also include what experience the horse has, any vices, anything he really is great at (clippers, loading, etc), and if he has been shown or won anything.

    Good luck
give some details about his temprement, previous and current health, accomlishments, what type of rider he/she needs (beginner, advanced, etc)
It's really easy, all you have to do is put as much information about your horse as possible.
why she is being sold her temperament and anything else that's necessary

This is not the forum to advertise items for sale.

If you advertise an item, and no one is interested at the price you list, perhaps the price is too high for current market conditions!

Check with dealers in your area to see what they would pay you for it! That will tell you what the actual wholesale value is, and you can base your retail price accordingly!

I do. An 8 yr. old red dun paint mare, trained in English, western, showmanship, halter and trail. Stands a 15.0 hands, about 990 lbs. She's a Blue Max granddaughter, pure paint. Wonderful disposition, very calm and confident. I've been showing her for 4 years, had her since she was three. Never been bred, orginally trained as a reiner, but now does just about everything. Would make a great dressage prospect, has done light jumping. Asking $4200, but negotiable.

    She's on Equine.com.

I think equinenow.com might be a good place to begin searching. If you want you can just select the state and discipline from the ';quick horse search'; menu drop downs and look at all breeds, genders, and colors which are listed for that discipline in that state or you can narrow the search if you know what breed, gender, and color you want. Here is the link:

Does anybody have a horse for sale? Preferably in Massachusetts.

Also, if the horse comes with all its tack and gear and everything, please let me know, but it doesn't have to come with everything.

I am looking for a basic pleasure horse. English and Western. I would also like to ride bareback. Trails too. w/t/c w/j/l. Maybe small jumps too. Any color is fine, age around 10, not too young, not too old. Gelding or mare. Breed doesn't matter. Height around 15hh, but I'm 5'6';, so if you think that is good, then tell me. =)

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me, and if you do have a horse that fits my description, please tell me.

    Thank you!!

Oh yeah, price! LOL, sorry. I forgot. I am thinking under $2,000. I kinda have a small budget. Thanks again!

Do you or anybody you know have a horse for sale?
I'm not quite sure if this place has them for sale, but I would check places in Massachusetts. I ride at Clarion Farm in Franklin, MA. www.clarionfarm.com. They might not have one for sale, but you could check local.com or yellowpages.com. Also, I will include some other places that do riding lessons.

    www.clarionfarm.com

There's a lot of other ones but I can't think of them right now. Oh, and are you sure you want a horse? It's not something that you can just go oh I want a horse. I have 3 horses and it's not easy. Mine are kept at someone else's stables, but if they weren't, you have to clean the stall, and feed them, and it's not cheap either. You have to buy the boarding if you plan to keep them somewhere else too. And if you don't ride a lot or haven't done lessons before then you might want to take that up. I would also reccomend competing in competitions to make some money for your horse, as it can get expensive. My point is that you should make sure you know how to ride and stuff. You need to know things from lessons, like tacking up, brushing, what to do when you fall off, ect. It's not like you just get on the horse and go. Hope this helped!!!

  • If you listed a horse for sale would you...?

If you listed a horse for sale would you consider leasing it to someone? Or maybe doing a kind of 'rent to own' type deal. Just curious =) Thanks in advance. If you listed a horse for sale would you...?
yes i think its a good idea to lease a horse before you actually buy them. When i was looking at m horse... the owners let him come down for a little over a week so that i could really decide if he was for me or not.. and he was :]]If you listed a horse for sale would you...?
it depends on what works for you. leasing out a horse limits the number of people interested because they'd have to live near your barn. also, in most leases, the owner is still responsible for vet and farrier fees. and when the rider is done with your horse, you have to start all over with looking for someone. i have a horse for sale right now and several people asked if they could lease but i turned them down.
well, it would depend on the horse and the situation.

personally i would have the person interested in buying the horse come out and ride it a couple of times and see how they are with eachother.

than if they are a good match i would either sugest buying or leasing the horse.

i currently am leasing a horse.

leasing is a whole lot easier than buying and is generally cheeper.

i recomend leasing a horse before buying a horse.

horses are a lot of work.
well lots of people do a free lease thing.

its ware the leaser just pays like a down payment for buying the horse then the horse is theirs without paying any thing else but they hae to take care of it like its theirs and when they dont want it any more they return the horse and get their money back. but if the horse dies they have to pay the whole payment as if they were buying it.
If you're considering leasing, throw it in at the end of the ad. Something like ';Ask me about our ';lease-to-own options!'; It makes the ad definitely look like a ';for sale'; kind of thing, but still leaves the leasing option on the table.
Yeh, here in Australia and I am sure other countries before we consider buying a horse we try the horse out for 2 weeks.Because if the owner were to drug the horse then you would soon find out.....and then we would obviously try it out to see if it was suitable..
When I sold my horse, I gave the buyer 2 weeks to ';try him out'; with a non-refundable $500 deposit. And she was responsible for all vet bills while he was with her. But I paid for the vet check before he went to her place. It worked out fine, I did draft a contract.

    Good luck!

I listed my mare as buy but preferr to free lease as I was going overseas and wanted to ensure she stayed in work and didn't really want to sell her.

Also mean that when i returned, after the contract period, i could take her back.
Yeah I think its a good idea. That gives the people on the other end a chance to get to know your horse and see if they are compatible or not. Just let them know that you have the intention to sell him/her in the end.
I would rather sell been in leasing a horse it dose not take long for somebody to undo hard work also if you do lease make sure that they insure the horse and check the property where they are going to keep it and get references
Yeah, i would consider it. It would be easier as well because at the moment people are having a hard time selling their horses and i think people would be more willing to lease a horse first instead of buying one.
    ya

it is good to lease your horse

but i think its better to lease to someone at your barn if you are going to because then you still get to be with your horse

    but anyways

it is still good to consider
I'd allow them to lease for a month if they're considering to buy, but I wouldn't lease it for full lease for how ever long they want, because if I had one for sale I'd want it sold.
I'd consider. I leased my first horse before I bought him. It's nice to have the chance to try a horse out over a period of time, then you know if you actually want him.

try a horse search engine online. They are very helpful in narrowing down your results so you only see the horses you can afford or that are trained in your specific discipline. Go to google and type in ';horse for sale'; and quite a few sites will come back. If you want something very specific, Dreamhorse I find is the most precise, although they don't yield as many results. Good Luck on your search!

remeber to always shop with an experienced horse owner! dont buy it until they have approved it!
I have a TB mare for sale that could easily do jumpers! She is 15.2hh though, a little on the shorter side depending on yout height though, like I'm 5'6'; and I don't look big on her. She probably isn't what your looking for, but if you want any other information.... just email me! Good luck!!
I am assuming you have a trainer if you want to go to the Maclay's. I would ask your trainer to find you a nice horse. It is much easier and you can find a few horses to try out and see if there are nice ones that you think could take, buy them..
Just look in the newspaper. People put horses up for sale in there all the time.
    try www.horsetopia.com
Online is a great start. Take your time and make a wise choice.

looking for a horse for sale or free to good homeHas anyone out there got a horse for sale or free to good home?
i'm sorry but this is the absolute worst place to find a horse - you don't even say where you live. how is anyone supposed to know if they would be near enough for you to take their horse?

your best bet is looking in actual horse-ads, or a horse and pony rescue centre. you can see the horse, you can know the temperament, size, needs etc.Has anyone out there got a horse for sale or free to good home?
Why don't you try one of the ex-racehorse rescue centres. I was watching a documentary about Moorcroft the other day. They retrain retired racehorses to be hacks, dressage, eventing, whatever you want. I don't think you will get one for free (and this isn't a place to buy or sell btw), but you'd get a good one, and be doing a retired racer a huge favour - after all they come out of racing around 8/9 tops, so have years and years ahead of them.

you can try searching for the specific breed you are looking for on google %26amp; you should be able to find some good sellers. Just be sure you ask for referances and do your research to make sure they take good care of their horses and that they're good people to work with.

Got both of mine from sellers on that site
    pet finder.com
the general equine sites have been mentioned. www.barnmate.com is another.

However it'd be better if you decide what exactly you want and what you want to do - there's quite a few specific.

P.S. I put one of my horses on dreamhorse and it was sold in 4 days! Good luck horse shoping.haha
http://www.dreamhorse.com/ is a great one. It is the only one we use, sorry that I dont have any others for you.
Go to www.BlueBonnetEquine.org this is a web site for an organization that rescues horses and finds homes for them. It's a great place to go for a horse. Also try the SPCA for horses in Houston
horsetopia.com, equinehits.com, horsetrader.com, and my fav: dreamhorse.com... It saves a lot of driving time and hunting around when you look for horses over the internet but I'd still look in areas near you so that you can test ride them before you buy! Always a good option because you can never be sure what your getting until you try.
Theres tons of horse sites out there but the one Ive found to work the best is dreamhorse.com. Happy horse shopping!!!=)

Does anyone have a horse for sale in ireland???

if so please leave details!!thanks a mill.

xxxxxxxxxDoes anyone have a horse for sale in ireland???
I know of a 14.2h Arab in Kildare who will probably be sold. He's 9 or 10, done mostly dressage but can jump if you're bold. He's not an idiot, but he has a sense of humour and will take the mickey - but he's not particularly spooky or dangerous. I rode him a lot a couple of years ago and he's very willing if you've got enough guts to not be put off by a bit of sillyness.Does anyone have a horse for sale in ireland???
Where in Ireland cos my riding school has just put almost the entire yard up for sale - making room for young stock. What are you looking for?

need two miniature horses that are mares or geldings for one hundred or less. If you have one would you please reply here because we really need some. If you would tell us how old it is what state you live in?

What there name is? And maybe a picture? Thank You!!!Does anybody have a miniature horse for sale in NC that is $100.00 or less?
    Hi there,

Currently I cannot find any free or cheep (under 100 dollars) miniature horses in North Carolina at the moment. However, I suggest you look at rescues frequently in North Carolina for miniature horses that might end up there. These horses usually only require an adoption fee of usually under 100 dollars.

    Good luck!

Letting someone try my horse for sale?

ok im going to explain better my horse is for sale a lady wants to try her out on the trail with her husbands horse to see if it gets alog she says it just started not liking geldings mine is mare.I want to have her sign a paper that im waving all responcibility I need to no how to word it.Letting someone try my horse for sale?
you would start with your name then hers and you would state i am allowing you to take my horse for a trial ride,on the understanding that if anything happens to you while out riding i wont be held responsible,Letting someone try my horse for sale?
yeah something like ice queen said; just make sure you have a witness sign it too..that would look better if you ever had to go to court over it....someone you know of course. Ask if there's anyway she could bring her horse to you and see how they got along. It's still alot of liability. What if your horse was injured on the trail and the woman was like '; well she had to be injured before the ride; it must have been some underlying problem.'; see what I'm saying. i would let and her husband ride around where i could see them on some of my property or a meeting place that was agreed between the too of you. It's your horse and should be your gain not your loss in the end.
As for the wording I am not really sure but wanted to suggest that the lady bring her horse to your house and just let them ride in the pasture. And that is bad enough. I had an experience when I was 16. I had a really hyper mare she was about 10 at the time. Unfortunately when we purchased her when I was 14 unbeknownest to me she had been partially trained for rodeo. Needless to say I was not an experienced rider so she needed a strong hand to ride. We got along great otherwise, she was gentle as a kitten until I tried to ride her then she went into this rearing up bucking routine. I had her for several years then I had to put her up for sale. A man came to the house one day when my parents were not there and wanted to try out the horse. Said he was experienced, etc. Well, I said ok but only in the pasture. So we got the horse saddled up. He gets on rides her a little then she started her stuff, bucking, rearing up, etc. Well at one point she reared straight up in the air and Mr. So called experienced, instead of leaning into her, he leaned back and the horse fell back on top of him. Had to call the ambulance, he had a broken sternum, fractured pelvis, broken ribs and fractured collar bone. Then later he tried to sue me. But when they found out my age they threw the case out. I just wanted to make a point that you are correct in your apprehension. Maybe if you look on line, and type in ';Sample Waivers';? Here is a link to a waiver for participation in playing soccer that I found http://www.usindoor.com/waiver.html

maybe if you changed some of the wording, it looks pretty good otherwise. Good Luck
